100% Pure Peppermint Oil from The Essentials Oils Co.

Peppermint oil may be able to relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and indigestion. I tried adding a couple drops in my coffee, but I didn't care for that too much. However, I tried it in a fruit smoothie and that was great! Also, another possible use; if you have a rodent problem, you can put some peppermint oil on some cotton balls or rags and place them around the problem area. They don't like the smell.

I like that this bottle was really large, it will last a long time. I recently had a bad cold and thought I would put some drops of this in the shower. It just seemed like the peppermint would help clear my stuffy nose and cough. I did enjoy using it in the shower and it did relief my symptoms while I was in there. This seems to be a really good quality oil and I am enjoying using it.

The Latest Craze in Hair Styling!

If you spend any time on social media, you have probably already seen this type of product before. It is all the craze right now! But do these straightening hair brushes really work??? Well, I recently tested and reviewed one, so I can personally give you the 411 on this hot new item on the market!

My hair is naturally curly (thanks, dad), but I much rather wear it straight. I don't know why, but I just feel so much prettier with it straightened. So, this means I am usually using my flat iron almost everyday. It can be a pain in the butt. I often have to deal with frizz too, which honestly I dislike that worse than the curls itself. I'll try anything that will make my life easier when it comes to dealing with my hair!

The product I tried was the Efloral Brush Hair Straightener. It can heat up to 446 degrees F. This is great for my thick curly hair! If your hair is thinner or more delicate, you can use a lower temperature. I noticed it did not take very long for it to heat up, and there is a digital reading so you know the exact temperature of the device at any given time. It comes in a pretty pink color, for those of you that like pink (like me!).

First of all, I'll tell you that this worked best for me after blow drying my hair so that it was all the way dry. I tried it while my hair was only semi-dry, and I found the results were way better starting with totally dry hair. (Note: directions actually tells you not to use it on wet hair) The Efloral Brush Straightener went through my hair with ease, and it did not pull at all. It straightened my hair very well. It felt really nice using it too, sort of giving your scalp a massage as it goes through. It seems nearly impossible to burn yourself while using this, unlike flat irons. The only one time I even felt much heat at all was on the very back of my head, as I brushed my long hair down past the nape of my neck. It worked pretty well on the frizz issues I tend to have, too. I will say though, I can get slightly less frizz when I use my flat iron. I think because I am literally ironing my hair flat, and it reduces like nearly 100% of frizz from doing that. I was still happy with the results though. And if frizz is not a huge problem for you, then you will really love it! It took about the same time as using my flat iron, an average of 10 minutes for me...but, using this is less work. You're just brushing your hair, not taking a section at a time, and holding the flat iron in place as you run it from root to tip. So, it feels like the lazy way to straighten your hair, lol. And let's face it, sometimes early in the morning, taking the easy way is going to be a plus.

Overall, I would say this product is a success! I really enjoyed using it and I felt I got good results! I think it would work well for most hair types, too. It is definitely a good tool to have on hand.

Baskets for Better Home Organization

Almost everyone I know seems to struggle with it. In this fast-paced, hectic and chaotic world, we all tend to have too much stuff. This creates a problem of having too much clutter and not always well organized. I always try to look for things that will help with this problem, and that is why I was eager to try out these very stylish and useful baskets!

I have a few nice shelving units that are great for photo frames and stuff, but a lot of times, these shelves aren't very useful. Unless you just mindlessly stack papers or throw random items on the shelves, most of it is actually wasted space. But, use a few of these baskets and your shelves can actually be useful, well organized, and not look terribly cluttered!

These attractive storage bins can be used for paperwork, cosmetic or beauty items, office supplies, or anything else you can think of! They can be used in a bathroom, bedroom, office, kitchen, living, and so on! What I really love is that they are very durable! They look like your typical woven wicker baskets, but they are in fact made with plastic weaving over metal framing. So, they won't crack or get crushed like regular wicker baskets might. They can also be easily be wiped down if they get dusty. The chrome handles also give it a nice modern look.

They come in difference sizes, as you see here, I went with two different ones. I also chose brown to go with my home décor, but they are also available in white or gray.

Fashion Friday with the HQB!

Hello my lovelies! I feel like I haven't been blogging as regularly as I usually had been these last few weeks...so I've miss y'all! There is a good reason for my recent hiatus...some very exciting things going on in my personal life...I'm sure I will be blogging about it all in the near future, but for now, I just want to get back to the wonderful world of blogging!

It is FRIDAY...which you guessed it, means Fashion Friday with the HQB!

If you have followed my blog at all, you probably already know that I am a frugal and thrifty shopper! My philosophy is why pay more, if you can pay less? I love getting good deals on anything, but especially clothes! Why? Well, I might be slightly obsessed with clothes, fashion, purses, and shoes. It's like I can't get enough of these glorious things! lol...well, if I were Paris Hilton, I could spend thousands on a single shopping spree on Hollywood Blvd., but no such luck there! So, to get lots of nice clothing, I have to be a deal hunter! Which I actually find being fun, exciting, and hugely rewarding! So, in the last week or two, I have come across some great deals. I figured I would share a couple with you today!

So, one of my favorite stops is to Salvation Army. Every Wednesday at my local location, it is half off most items! I love picking up cute clothes for my son because, as I have said before...he is a boy and stains or outgrows clothes, so why pay a ton for them? And my best deals are when I find brand new items with the store tags still on them! Which I did this week!

Check it out, I found this super cute Oshkosh shirt, brand new with the tags still on! In fact, it shows the retail price of $28.00. Now, what do you think I paid for this? Ok, you know it isn't close to $28 bucks! How about $10? ...or $5? ...Nope, try $1.50! That's right, I bought this brand new Oshkosh shirt for less than a cup of Tim Horton's coffee! (All you locals will appreciate that I mentioned Timmy's! haha!) What a deal, right? I love it!

Ok, but I am not done there! On the same trip to "Salvo", I also found this Old Navy shirt, also still with the store tag on! Now the bottom of the store tag was removed (it was probably a gift), so I don't know the exact retail price. Knowing Old Navy, I will guess $14.50. Sound about right? Well, here again, why pay more, when you can pay less? I also scored this cute shirt for my son for $1.50! My son is going to really love this shirt because it is soft material, super comfy, AND it has a guitar and amp on it....if anyone knows my son, they know his love of music! So this is perfect for him!

So, there is a great example of why frugal shopping is so great! Two very nice, brand new, school shirts for $3.00. You simple can't go wrong!

Ok, so I usually find great items for myself too....however, I already have more than enough clothes so I don't buy things unless I really like them! I am thrilled when I find a cute pair of jeans or a nice dress! We go to church regularly, and we all dress up, so dresses for my religious meetings are always something I keep an eye out for! Last week, I found this really cute dress...still with store tags on, for only $2.50! The bottom portion of the store tag had been removed too, so not exactly sure what this would cost full retail price, nor do I really care. I just know that I got it for $2.50 and that makes me happy! It's not my everyday style of course, but it is however, perfect for Sunday meetings! In the summer it can be left open, and during colder seasons, just throw a little black sweater over it and you have a very cute look! A win for this frugal mommy!

Then, yesterday I ran into Wal-Mart for a few things. I always like to check their Clearance racks! Well, I found a very cute snap on tie (we are not yet to the point of real, tied ties yet lol)  for $1.00! This tie will look great on him! Another great find! My kiddo is gonna look sharp!

I am a firm believer that you don't have to dish out tons of money to dress well and look nice! If you figure out places to shop and how to be smart about shopping, you can literally spend next to nothing! Then, use that money you didn't spend on clothes for other things! Home repairs, a vacation, whatever you want! It's all about making memories with your family! They will remember all the fun times you spent together much more than the $100 you spent on the "must-have-now" hot clothing item!

Well, I hope perhaps I inspired some of you to try some frugal shopping in the future! The deals are out there...where ever you live, there are great places to score awesome stuff!

Good luck!

Happy {frugal} Shopping!

Calling All Chefs, Cooks, Foodies, and Wanna-be-Foodies!

...I have a great kitchen tool for you!!!

Before I really got into cooking, ya know, when you're just a college kid who lives on pizza and microwaved dinners, I thought a knife is a knife. I did not know any difference between what knives worked best for what, or the proper way to hold a knife, or how the quality of a knife could possibly matter. Well, then you fast forward to my *cough* early 30's, when I am a mom and wife, who cooks meals and prepares food on a daily basis. You quickly realize that you can't just buy dollar store cutlery and expect good results! (No offense to dollar stores, lol, I love them for many things but their knives are junk!)

Recently, I had the opportunity to try this 8" Stainless Steel Knife from Happymoon Kitchenware! It has a beautiful look to it, very well made and great quality! A kitchen must-have for any serious cook! Forged From 3CR13 Stainless Steel, this knife has amazing cutting performance and durability. The handle of this knife is ergonomically engineered and is very comfortable to use. It is the ultimate multipurpose kitchen knife! I have cut vegetables and meats with it, it just slices through everything with such ease!

I highly recommend this knife to add to your collection!
I don't think you would be sorry at all!
Happy cooking!

Is Weight Loss a Goal of Yours for 2016?

If you happened to have set a New Year's Resolution about weight loss, you really should consider this scale! Even if you didn't make a resolution, to be honest I don't, but are still interested in maintaining a healthy weight, look into this amazing high tech scale!

I had been holding out to find a really good scale, and then I came across this one! I know some will recommend not to keep running to your scale all the time when trying to lose weight. And I agree, don't become obsessed with a number. If you are working out, you might be losing fat, but gaining muscle. As you have probably heard before, muscle weighs more than fat. So the number is not always the only factor. That is why this particular scale is awesome! It will also track your body fat index! Your water percentage! And even your bone weight! The body composition monitor utilizes BIA technology to provide accurate readings of body weight, BMI, body fat, water, muscle and bone mass. Perfect if you are a fitness enthusiast, an athlete or just trying to be healthy! I never knew a scale could even do all this!

The scale can ever store up to 8 profiles, so your whole family can keep track of their fitness/health/weight loss goals! It can be used for people up to 440 pounds too! If you are on a mission to lose weight, maintain your weight, or just keep track of your body, this is the perfect tool for you! I also love the elegant and modern look of this scale! I really feel that it is the best scale a person could buy! I highly recommend it to anyone!

Elegant Unisex Watch by Topaz

This is a really nice, elegant watch! It says that it is unisex, and I can't really say it would be better for a male or female...it really would work well for either gender! I really like the leather band and it is very comfortable to wear. I also like the black face of the watch too. It keeps time very well and it easy to read. This is the second Topaz watch I have ordered through Amazon, and both of them have been very nice quality. I would recommend their watches to anyone!

I love this cocktail shaker! This mixologist shaker helps you make some of the best drinks to share with your friends! The stainless steel quality is amazing! It looks so professional and somewhat fancy! It can hold 24 OZ/700 ML, and has a built-in strainer, along with a double size 1 & ½ OZ measurement Jigger.

2016 Golden Globe Fashion Friday with The HQB!

Did you watch the Golden Globe Awards the other night? I did, a little, while doing other things, being the queen muti-tasker that I am lol...I find it near impossible to just sit and strictly watch a 3 hour long award show. What I really like to look at is all those amazing gowns the woman wear! Some are much more amazing than others, of course!

If you watched, what were some of your favorites?

I gotta say that J Lo was one of my favorites! Although I would never think of a yellow dress, she pulled it off and her dress was stunning! I think that the high cut slit is really what made it stand out. It gave it that sexy factor. Although, with J Lo, I think you could probably throw dirty rags on her, and she would still have the sexy factor, lol!

The smartest choice in my opinion, goes to Amy Schumer's dress. I can relate to Amy's body type...she is "normal". Not thin, not fat. But compared to most of Hollywood, she is a bit bigger. She is not a size 2. She isn't a stick. So, for her body type, she made a smart choice. If you notice the way the white and black is used, the white area in the front is shaped along with the black on the sides to give a slimming appearance. The white slants inward towards her middle, which gives the illusion of a thinner figure. Her dress also appears to have pockets too, which I think is sort of neat.

Here are a few other styles that were noticed...

I think my least favorite was this one that Natalie Dormer wore. I just don't think it did anything for her body, and it makes her look rectangular and flat chested.

Did any others stand out to you? Which celebrity is your fashion icon?

Where has the Hometown Queen Bee been???

I can't believe it has been nearly a year since I sat in front of this screen as the "Hometown Queen Bee" and wrote a blog po...
