Snug Baby Monitor for Smartphones and Tablets with Free App; Product Review

This is such an amazing product! It takes about ten minutes to set up and be ready to use. You will be able to check on your child with your iPhone, iPad, Android tablet or Android phone. It works with a free and easy app to download. I would describe this as the new generation of baby monitors.
Now, not only can you hear your baby, but you can get a visual of them right on your phone! Another great feature is the two-way microphone, which allows you to not only hear your baby, but also talk to your baby! Imagine the comfort that can offer a crying baby! Hearing mom say, "It's ok honey, mommy is coming."  The really neat thing is that you don't even have to sit and watch to make sure your baby is fine. It will send an alert right to your phone or tablet if the camera detects movement or sound. This device also has night vision, so you are able to check on your baby in the dark.
It is such a convenient tool for any parent to have! I give this product a five star rating because it can offer a busy and tired mom some piece of mind. That is priceless. I would recommend this to any expectant mother, and would make a wonderful baby shower gift!

Zim's Max Freeze; Product Review

I sound like a broken record now, because I have discussed this many times...but, it is a huge part of my life. Severe back pain. It's probably my number one problem in life actually. So, when ever I see something that might offer some help or offer some pain relief, I am totally willing to try it!

I recently had the opportunity to try Zim's Max Freeze. This is used topically, on any part of the body that you experience muscle or joint pain. The condition I suffer from with my back isn't really muscle or joint related, however, when my back pain flares up, the muscles in that area do become tense and sore. This only adds to the pain I experience. So, I still felt some benefit from this product. It has that icy hot feeling that melts away soreness. It was not greasy and although it had a slight scent while applying it, the sent quickly vanishes, so you're not left smelling all "mediciny". It contains Organic ilex and aloe, arnica, Vitamin E and Tea Tree Oil. It is also Paraben and Sulfate free, which are important things to always look for.

If you suffer from aches and pains of muscles and joints, backaches, arthritis, or even a sprain, you will want to give this product a try!

Why I don't go to Olive Garden - My Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo Recipe

Ok, nothing against Olive Garden or other similar places, but I have a hard time going to a restaurant (and paying a lot) for something I can easily make at home. And really, I can't say I never go there...if a friend wants to go, I won't argue lol, I just will opt for something I can't make at home. They do have choices aside from pasta dishes. I just won't order spaghetti, fettuccine alfredo, or lasagna. Pasta is such a cheap thing to buy, and nothing difficult to make, so I do what I call my "Olive Garden at Home"! So, next time you're in the mood for fettuccine alfredo, if you are looking to save money, try this! Your family will probably be impressed you brought Olive Garden to them, and you'll be impressed by how much money you saved!

Servings: 4

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook  Time: 30 minutes

Cost: approx. $12.00

The Pasta;

To start off, take a large pot and bring 5qt. of water to a boil. Add a bit of salt (approx. 1 teaspoon). Once water is at a boil, add in the fettuccine noodles (1 12oz. box), stirring occasionally, until al dente. Drain water. You can either mix sauce right into the pasta, or simply pour some over each plate before being served, that is totally up to you. If you need a gluten-free option, they actually have some great ones on the market now, tasting just as good as regular pasta!

The Chicken;

I used some fresh chicken breasts tenders. Simply put 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil into a pan on medium/high heat. Once hot, carefully add the chicken. Salt and pepper each side while cooking. Make sure the chicken is fully cooked (165 F). I cooked mine approx. 8 minutes on each side. Occasionally move the chicken around so it won't stick to the bottom of the pan. After fully cooked, I set on a plate and cut the chicken up into small bit sized pieces. This will be added on top of the pasta once it is plated.

The Broccoli;

I used frozen broccoli because, don't ask me why, but I prefer frozen to fresh when it comes to broccoli. It is easier too. (And guess what? I'm pretty sure Olive Garden used frozen anyway! lol) So, I just get a bag of frozen broccoli crowns (make sure to get crowns so you won't have a bag full of the steams). Put in a covered pot on a medium/high heat, stirring occasionally. Don't over cook the broccoli, it tastes best when it is not mushy. Once it is cooked to the desired point, strain the water and add a portion on top of each plate.

The Bread;

I used a frozen garlic bread stick. It only takes approz. 8 minutes in the oven, and they're very delicious! Your local store probably has several options so just take a look and pick one you like!

Alfredo Sauce Ingredients:

1 stick butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 cups heavy cream
salt and black pepper to taste

Alfredo Sauce Instructions:

  1. Melt butter in a sauce pan on medium heat.
  2. Add garlic, cream, salt, pepper, and bring to a simmer. Do not allow to boil.
  3. Add the grated parmesan cheese and continue to simmer for approx 7-10 minutes or until thick.
  4. Set aside until ready to use.

Xtreme Canteen; Product Review

I am not one to make stops at convenient stores for carbonated drinks or other such beverages. I much rather bring something healthier with me when I'm on the go. That is why the Xtreme Canteen is so great! It can hold 32 oz of the liquid of your choice, hot or cold. It is a double wall, vacuum insulated, stainless steel canteen, and comes in a variety of colors for you to chose from. I, of course, went with pink!

So, what is so great about this product? Well, if you are like many people who like to carry a bottle of water with you where you go, those plastic bottles contain chemicals that are not good for you. This stainless steel canteen is BPA-free. Also, because the average person spends approximately $1,200 a year on purchasing single use plastic bottles, this product can save you money and help save the planet! It would be a great idea to fill this with water and use it to help you drink the daily recommended amount each day. If you filled this twice each day, you would be getting more than enough water! I know it is always a struggle for me to drink as much water as I should, but this has helped me. It is also a easy way to keep track of your daily intake.

Ok, so if being better for your health and saving you money isn't enough reason to use the Xtreme Canteen, here is another reason! If you put a chilled liquid inside, it will stay cold for 14 hours without ice! Add ice to it, and the ice will stay frozen for as much as 24 hours! And it won't condensate on the outside of the canteen. For hot liquid, this canteen will keep it hot for 12 hours! I know when I take a road trip, I am going to be using this for coffee! I make the best in my very own home, so fill this up before I more settling for watered down gas station coffee along the way!

Topaz unisex Watch; Product Review

I was looking for a nice gift for my father. When I saw this watch, I thought it looked really nice and would be the perfect gift for my dad. When it arrived, it totally met my expectations. The watch is lovely! The leather straps are very nice quality and the face of the watch is nice and large. The face is elegant looking. I like that there is also a date indicator right besides the "3". This is a handy feature because most people have to ask, "what's todays date?" at least every now and then. I also really like the rose gold, which makes it much more unique and elegant. It is water resistant, so hand washing while wearing the watch won't be an issue. Also, state-of-the-art quartz technology movement shows precise time. I am presenting this to my dad tomorrow and I am sure he will love it! Because it is unisex, I was tempted to keep it for myself! (but I won't)

Shredded Memory Foam Bamboo Pillow

I used to think a pillow is a pillow. That there was no big difference between any of them. Well, I was wrong. If you have ever woken up with a stiff neck or sore shoulders, you know that it is not a fun thing to experience. Or do you suffer from snoring, insomnia, asthma, TMJ, or migraines? Often times, a bad pillow can cause those things. On the flip side, a good pillow can often offer relief from such ailments!
I was very excited to give this pillow a try. I really like memory foam for my mattress topper, so I was pretty sure I would enjoy a memory foam pillow too. It is so comfortable to sleep on! It cradles you head nicely. The Adjustable Original Bamboo Pillow allows you to unzip the inner liner to adjust the amount of memory foam in the pillow. No other pillow on the market has this built in customization feature! So, if you want a softer, flatter pillow, you just unzip the liner and take out a few handfuls of shredded memory and store them in a plastic storage bag (in case you want to add the foam back to the pillow). This is a totally unique feature to this pillow! And it doesn't matter if you are a side sleeper, back sleeper, or stomach sleeper, this pillow will work for you because of how it conforms to your body! I am getting such better sleep since I started using this! I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Silicone Baking Mat Review...and my epic fail on a Pinterest DIY project!

I recently got the opportunity to review these great silicone baking mats! I remember back several years ago when my (then) husband was attending culinary school and got one of these through school. That was my first exposure to silicone baking mats. Obviously being a part of a culinary school curriculum, you can tell these are used by serious professional chefs! I have never had one personally before, so I really wanted to give these a try for myself!
Now, it was just last weekend that I did a bunch of baking...and baking equals when these showed up, I was excited to try them out, but I didn't necessarily want to bake again. So, I had a "great" idea! I had just recently seen on Pinterest, where you take peppermint candies, bake them, and mold them into a bowl. Basically, a candy dish made out of candy! I wanted to try it anyway, so I thought this would be the perfect time to go for it, since I just got these great silicone baking mats!

Place the candies in this formation (3, 4, 5, 4, 3)

Preheat oven to 300 F., then bake for approx. 8 minutes

once removed from oven, let cool for just a minute or two...
using oven mitts (it will be hot!) place the silicone mat with
the candy over a small bowl/cup. Allow to cool completely.
I looked up how to make these candy bowls on Pinterest, where I had originally seen the idea. I followed the directions, at least I think I did...somehow however, mine turned out nothing like the Pinterest version I had seen! It was like one of those jokes where you see an amazingly cute a creative cupcake platter on the left...with someone's poor pathetic attempt on the right, with the phrase "nailed it" above. Haha, yeah, slightly embarrassing, but I totally had that experience with these! But, I can laugh at myself...heck, I can even share my epic fail with y'all so you can laugh at me too! I won't feel too bad though...admit it, you too have probably tried a DIY Pinterest project that just didn't turn out quite right, lol.

my little joke on how I "nailed it"...the one on the left being the nicely
one shown on Pinterest.
my very first one...awful! I call it my "abstract candy bowl"
I had to see if I could do better...the second one was slightly better, lol
Ok, so let's just talk about these awesome silicone baking mats for a moment, and forget about my little candy bowl project lol. First of all, I love that they made them purple! And how nice that it comes with a matching spatula! These were easy to use and easy to clean. Even when using something as sticky as candy, nothing stuck to them! The fact that I wasn't happy with my candy bowls wasn't in anyway the fault of these baking mats either, just so you know. That was totally me just not having the skills to pull it off. (as least on this, my first try) These silicone mats can be used for baking cookies, not to mention so many other items! Every serious baker or cook should have a set of these!

Simply Earth Essential Oils

No doubt, you have heard about essential oils. There are so many brands out on the market today. A couple of the more well known ones also carry a high price tag. This does not necessarily mean they are better either. Shop around and compare.

I recently had been introduced to the Simply Earth brand of essential oils. The first two from this brand that I tried were their Basil and Tea Tree oils. So what can these oils do? Well, let's start with the Basil. This oil has been proven to decrease stress and anxiety, boost health, enhance memory as well as sharpen the mind. Plus can be hugely effective in aroma therapy. For this, you can use them in a special essential oil diffuser. As for Tea Tree Oil, this is a natural antibacterial. It's an antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral, balsamic, cicatrisant, expectorant, fungicide and insecticide. Tea tree oil can be used as a cure for almost all tropical infections and diseases. Sounds pretty good, right?

Essential oils work great in a diffuser, like this one here...

If you are someone who likes to seek out more natural remedies, essential oils are really something you need to research! I have enjoyed using the essential oils from Simply Earth and would recommend them to anyone looking for high quality, 100% pure oils!

Garlic Lime Salmon

Ok, so most of us know that Salmon is a healthy meal option. High in Omega 3 and packed with vitamins and minerals, it is definitely something to add to your dinner rotation! Until recently, I hadn't had much experience preparing it at home. For some reason, I was a bit scared to even try. Well, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go for it. What's the worst that could happen, right? I call for a pizza, lol, still fine in my book! But, thankfully my whole family really loved this! My 6 year old even gave me two thumbs up on this dish! Since it got such high scores my family, I though it was "safe" to share with y'all.
This is actually really easy! And it only took about 30 minutes, which isn't bad at all for a nice meal like this. So, give it a try and hopefully your family will like it as much as mine did! I paired this Salmon with steamed asparagus. I thought it went really well together, but feel free to pair it with anything you'd like.

Garlic Lime Salmon

  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 Lime
  • 2 tbsp. Parsley
  • 1/4 tsp. Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 4 tbsp. Butter

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F.
  2. Take a baking pan and line it with foil, allowing enough extra on the sides to completely cover.
  3. Lay the Salmon in the foil lined pan.
  4. Mince the Garlic.
  5. Cut up the Lime.
  6. Sprinkle the Salmon with Parsley, Italian Seasoning, and salt.
  7. Put 1 tbsp. of Butter on each portion.
  8. Add Minced Garlic onto the Salmon.
  9. Add a slice of Lime on top of each portion.
  10. Cover Salmon with foil and pinch closed.
  11. Bake for approx. 25 minutes.
